Addressing the Root Cause of Increasing Interactions with Law Enforcement
The Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute (ADAI) in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington, Seattle, collaborates with counties throughout Washington State to establish a unified, comprehensive, and compassionate network that bridges law enforcement and community services.
The primary objective of this initiative and research is to empower law enforcement to better support individuals in the community who come into contact with them but require substantial help and support to address the underlying issues that have led to their interactions with law enforcement.
By creating a diverse network of organizations to tackle the root causes rather than simply enforcing the law, officers can offer comprehensive assistance to those they encounter on a daily basis.
It was a privilege to work with and get to know the many individuals who contribute to and benefit from this incredible network here in Clallam County. Here are their stories.
